Donations of Books, Tapes or Other Items

Are you interested in donating books, compact discs, or other items from your home or office, but are not quite sure of the process? The following information may answer some of your questions.

What kinds of materials are accepted?

Donations of books, compact discs, and DVDs that are clean and in good condition are accepted.

What items are not accepted?

Magazines, videocassettes, audio cassettes, computer software and textbooks are not accepted; neither are computer books over three years old.

Where do donations go?

The Flower Mound Public Library decides the disposition of all gifts. In most cases, the donations are given to the Friends of the Flower Mound Public Library for its book sales. Proceeds from the sales have enabled the Friends to provide funding to purchase books and other materials for the library and to sponsor Library projects and activities.

Where can donations be left?

All donations, small or large, are welcome. Donations can be dropped off at the Flower Mound Public Library during open hours.

Are gifts tax deductible?

Yes. Contributions to the Flower Mound Public Library or the Friends of the Library are tax deductible. A receipt is available upon request. Just ask a Library staff member or the Friends of the Library for one.
If an itemized list of your donation is required for income tax purposes, please complete the list before bringing your donation to the Library.

Please note that representatives from the Flower Mound Public Library or the Friends of the Library cannot establish or affirm the value of your donation.
